Tagging themselves with unique interesting names gets half the promotion done for the restaurants. The more outlandish the name the better. Today out-of-the-box concepts are not enough to hold the interest, first impressions are formed by the names itself. Glowing blinking signage stating the fancy name draws the eyes of the patrons who when find their attention riveted, do not think twice before entering the restaurants. Gone are the days of old-fashioned names paying homage to family members or condiments, today’s generation likes mystery and humour. Taking the cue from the trend is ‘Fat Man’s Café’ which is a popular and trendy chain of restaurants. The café reminds one of a chilled out space where every punter is encouraged to relax and have a good time. The vibe is laid out and casual without compromising on style. It is one of the many places in Mumbai where they manage to have it all.

Located in two areas – Reclamation and Juhu – the café follows a peppy cheerful outlook. Everything falls under the quirky spell, from décor to food but who is complaining! We LOVE it! Fat Man’s Café is our new favourite haunt. We just adore its décor which comprises of soft pale walls set off by bright happy coloured furniture. Eye-catching colours and printed upholstery are used to bring in the creativity. Each dining area has its own unique flavour. Fat Man’s Café & Grill in Juhu is a bit different from the café at Reclamation. The layout is different too, which makes all the difference. The Reclamation outlet comes with a charming outdoor area that is fitted with outdoorsy furniture and lovely lush potted plants. Innovative wall arts are placed around the room to add to the eccentricity.

Fat Man’s Café believes in good food which it delivered at every level. Cuisines to be found here are Italian, Continental and American with a fair share of healthy dishes for those who watch what they eat. It is not exactly cheap but it is not excessively expensive too. The menu opens with a hearty breakfast section that has made a fan out of us. Following that is the appetizer section with mushroom soup, pesto chicken skewers, jalapeño cheese poppers, grilled chermoula prawns and beer battered fish and chips. Rest of the menu is taken over by pizzas, burgers, sandwiches and pastas. Steaks, seafood, bakes, chops and grilled food adds to the menu too. End with banoffee pie, apple crumble, baked cheese cake, chocolate cake and much more.
